Robert Woodside

It is with the deepest sympathies that we report the passing of Professor Robert M. Woodside Sr. who passed away at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008. Professor Woodside, a native of Staunton, Va., served in the United States Army in intelligence following World War II. He received both an undergraduate degree in nuclear engineering and a masters in mathematics from NC State University. Mr. Woodside moved to Greenville where he was a Mathematics Professor for 30 years at East Carolina University, retiring in 2000. While teaching, he served as the Secretary Treasurer for Pi Mu Epsilon. In 2003, Professor Woodside was presented with the The C. C. MacDuffee Award for Distinguished Service.
