Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?

We had no plans to attend the 2003 meetings, but are hoping to be able to attend the 2004 meetings. We have two or three students working on papers to be presented.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

In January of 2003 we invited recent graduates to talk to our current math majors. We had a lot of food, drinks, and interesting conversations. It was great to see our former students and our current students got great information and feedback. Our guests included graduate students in math, high school math teachers, actuaries, college recruiters, computer programmers and more.

2:

In February of 2003 the paper/presentation of one of our seniors took first place at the MAA LA/MS regional conference. The title of the paper was "DS-divisors of positive integers." The author of the paper was our graduating senior Nicole Robicheaux.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Emily (Wilson) Gamundi is finishing her Ph.D. in mathematics at Tulane University.

Nicole Robicheaux is in graduate school studing statistics at Florida State University.
