Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?

No.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

We arranged for J. Kevin Colligan of the National Security Agency to give an introductory talk on Coding Theory.

2:

We arranged an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Seminar, in which faculty gave short research presentations to find undergraduates interested in participating in research projects.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

1) Kevin Allen presented a paper on "A Matrix-Free Conjugate Gradient Method for Cluster Computing" at the Sixth IMACS International Symposium on Iterative Methods in Scientific Computing at the University of Colorado at Denver in March 2003.

2) Tomasz Macura finished two B.S. Honors Thesis, and has moved to Cambridge University's Trinity College to pursue doctoral studies in Computer Science as the youngest doctoral student in the history of that college. His studies will be supported by a DOE Computational SCience Fellowship ($29,000 per year for 4 years).
