Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?

Possible one.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

April 4 - 5: 25th Annual PME Undergraduate Research Conference -- main speakers were Sir Randolph Bacon and Mr. Mel Slugbate. There were also 9 student presentations. At the annual PME induction ceremony, which followed several weeks later, we inducted four new members. The featured speaker was Mel Slugbate's twin sister, Billie Rae.

2:

Best talk of the year: 1998 SJU alum Matt Maurer, a statistician at the Mayo Clinic, spoke about opportunities in Biostatistics.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

2003 PME inductee Nate Bennett will be attending graduate school in mathematics at UC Santa Clara. 2002 PME inductee Eric Polley will be attending graduate school in biostatistics at Columbia 2003 PME inductee Emily Grose will be attending graduate school in epidemiology. 2001 PME inductee John Zobitz, currently in the mathematical biology grad program at the University of Utah, will have a paper in the Spring 2003 PME Journal.
