Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?

No.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

The chapter sponsored a trip to the Statistics Department of the Mayo Clinic this year for mathematics and statistics majors. The activities of the day included a tour of the clinic and an intensive afternoon session with former graduates of WSU, who now work at Mayo and who described their work, internship opportunities, and offered career advice. Approximately 20 majors participated in this trip.

2:

The chapter sponsored a departmental picnic for majors, minors, prospective majors/minors, and department faculty. The picnic was well-attended (~70 people) and provided an excellent opportunity for students and faculty to interact on a social level.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Dave Machac---selected for the LARSS program at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. Derek Settergren---accepted to University of Pennsylvania, pursuing Ph.D. in mathematics.
