Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

Thursday, Noveber 21, 2002: Dr. Ingram Olkin (Professor of Statistics and Education, Stanford University) gave a short course on Meta-Analysis. It covered powerful new statistical methods for combining results from independent studies that have analyzed the same topic.

2:

Saturday, February 15, 2003: A handful of PME members assisted in organizing scores during preliminary rounds of the Math Counts contest for middle school students from all over South Central Pennsylvania.

Nikolina Icitovic (Past President of Pennsylvania Phi) started graduate school at Penn State. She is studing Applied Statistics. Julie Mann (Outgoing Pennsylvania Phi Secretary) received the Math Sciences Oustanding Student Award as well as the Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award.
