Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?

No.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1:

Our PI MU EPSILON banquet and induction ceremony took place on Thursday, April 24, 2003. It was a great evening, concluding with an after-dinner talk by Dr. Dennis DeTurck from the University of Pennsyvania.

2:

Two of our students, Jessica Calhoun and Jeffrey Meyers, gave talks at EPADEL, the regional section of the MAA, in November 2002. Jessica's talk was on her successful quest for an element of order 11 in the Rubik's Cube group. Jeff's talk was on a coin-flipping game originally discussed by Martin Gardner in a Scientific American column.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

A joint paper "Which Rectangular Chessboards Have A Bishop's Tour?" by Gabriela Sanchis and Nicole Hundley ('02) was accepted for publication in the Journal of Recreational Mathematics.

Jessica Calhoun ('03) submitted a paper to the Journal or Recreational Mathematics.
