Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Boulder, Colorado?
Ryan Martinets (to attend) and Marvin Lee (to present a paper).
Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
1:
We had a booth at San Marcos YouthFest, having kids make tesselations, and bead necklaces with the color sequence coding the digits of pi (very hideous results).
2:
We also had a 30 minute presentation as part of the San Marcos Science Extravaganza, for middle school children.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :
Marvin Lee presented a paper at the Texas Section of the MAA annual meeting, held this year in Huntsville Texas. New member Lacey Huebel has won several scholarships, over $5000 worth, and various academic awards this Spring.
