Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence, Rhode Island?

No.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1.  Troy MathFest:  This was a 1-day conference which drew together faculty and students from all Troy University campuses.  We had students and faculty give presentations ranging from mathematical research, education, and history.  In addition, we held our second annual calculus competition.

2. We had a tailgating event to celebrate the kickoff the 2003 football season and our new football stadium.  Many students and faculty participated.  It was a chance to interact outside the classroom.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Our outgoing president, Sheena Richards, was accepted to graduate school at the University of Houston.  She also was accepted to participate at the Institute for Advanced study at Princeton University for summer 2004.  Our outgoing vice-president, Nick Newman, was accepted to graduate school at Auburn University.  Both gave presentations at the Mathematics Symposium at Western Kentucky during fall 2003.  Nick and our webmaster, Eric Cleckler, had a solution accepted for publication to a problem posed in the Alabama Journal of Mathematics.
