Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence, Rhode Island?

Yes, Matt Smith is planning to attend and present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence Rhode Island.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

This year we hosted our first annual calculus competition. It was a great success! We recruited participants from accross the sciences to take part in the contest.

To celebrate the contest winners and to induct our new PME members we organized a very nice banquet. The banquet included a key note address on mathematics and music, the announcement of the contest winners, the induction ceremony for new PME members, and a slide show with pictures of all the activities organinzed by our chapter.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Audry Herbert will start the PH.D. program in mathematics at Tulane University. Jared Prolo will start the PH.D. program in mathematics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
