Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence, Rhode Island?

No.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Most of the Pi Mu Epsilon events center around: (1) creating a culture of fellowship amongst the Math/Stat/MathEd majors and faculty and/or (2) sponsoring activities which will encourage intellectual growth amonst Math/Stat/MathEd majors. Last year, our emphasis leaned towards Statistics. This year, our emphasis appears to be on Mathematics Education.

1. Fellowship: the PME chapter still regularly hosts a spring picnic for faculty and M/S/ME majors (attendence about 80) and this year hosted a Math Movie Night and organized a team from the M/S/ME majors to donate a weekend of work to Habitat for Humanity.

2. Intellectual Growth: the PME chapter this year sponsored a group of ME majors who attended and presented at the MCTM conference in the Twin Cities (Fall 2003) and sponsored a speaker/pizza party (Spring 2003) at which Jim Foley gave a talk entitled, "Teachers Make a Difference: A History of Math Education from 1957 Until Today."

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

No.
