Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence, Rhode Island?

We anticipate having 3 chapter members attend the PME National Meeting at Providence.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

The majority of our meetings featured scholarly presentation from mathematics and statistics faculty members.  However, we did have several "fun" meetings.  One such meeting was in February when we had a game night.  Among other games, we played Set, Five in a Row, Chess, Clue, and Master Mind.  We also put together a number of mind benders.  These were puzzles that had to be constructed to form certain 2 or 3 dimensional shapes.  The other "fun" meeting was a screening "Fermat's Last Tango."  This DVD was produced by the Clay Mathematical Institute and was a recording of an operetta that heralded the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem.  At all of our meetings we served food--pizza, veggies, dip, cookies, cup cakes, and pop.   We held 9 meetings and had a holiday party just before the winter break.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

We have had a very active year with student talks.  The following chapter members gave talks at local, regional, or national conferences.  The students are listed alphabetically: Dan Baczkowski, Leslie Blaha, David Friedenberg, Kristin Gatzlaff, Brian Godsey, James Lawrence, Daniel Radoff, and Mark Walters.

In additions Brian Godsey and James Lawrence competed in the National Collegiate Mathematics Competition at MathFest in Boulder, CO.  James finished third.

A number of our chapter members will be attending graduate or professional school in Fall 2004; however we do not have a complete list as of this writing.
