Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Albuquerque, New Mexico?

Yes. Three students will attend, two will present a paper. Two of these three students will be inducted in PME in the fall when we have our ceremony.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Our charter ceremony was our highlight this year! In November, the California Xi chapter was officially chartered and we inducted our first group of students and faculty members. Our charter ceremony was held in conjuction with our annual "Math Formal", a formal dinner and dance which had a wonderful greek theme this year. The event was titled the "G(r)eek Formal" and about 45 people attended. During the spring semester, we held our annual Pi Day festivities, which involved a "Throw a Pie at a Professor" event, pie eating, and the wearing of temporary Pi Day tattoos.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

James Keating and Austin Outhavong presented a poster at the Joint meetings in Atlanta in January. James Keating will be attending graduate school in mathematics in the fall (he is undecided as to where he will go). Ashley Foster received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Argentina and is currently there teaching and conducting research.
