It is possible that Matt Smith will present his paper.
Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
This year we participated in two competitions: The Tulane Math Skirmish and the MAA Louisiana/Mississippi Regional Conference Competition. Even though our team was short one member, we achieved the fifth place at the MAA competition, a great improvement over the last few years. Also at the MAA Regional Conference Matt Smith presented his research paper and achieved the second place.
On campus we sponsored the second Annual Calculus Competition. Pi Mu Epsilon was a co-sponsored for this event. Over 35 students from across the university competed; students and faculty felt connected at this event. A month later we held a banquet were the winners were announced. Also at this banquet we held our induction ceremony for new Pi Mu Epsilon members.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :
