Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Albuquerque, New Mexico?

I don't know. I think it is a possibility that Chantel Blackburn, our new President, might attend or present.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

September 24, 2004 Chantelle Blackburn and Kami Lizarraga hosted a group proof writing competition, with participants divided into teams and prizes given to the team producing the best proofs.

February 25, Tim Pennings, of Hope College, brought his dog Elvis, who apparently optimizes the path to a ball thrown out into the water (i.e., he "knows" calculus). This was a big hit.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Abimael Santana has been accepted into graduate school (mathematics) at Miami University (Ohio).

Gilead Kutnick has been accepted for graduate study in Computer Science at Indiana University, Bloomington.

Chantel Blackburn, President of the Chapter, has received an REU at Grand Valley State University. She (co)presented a paper at the AMS meetings at Texas Tech in April.

Another of our students (not a Pi Mu Epsilon member), Clara Logan, has co-authored three papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been accepted for graduate study in mathematics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
