Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Julie Legler of St Olaf College delivered the annual Pi Mu Epsilon lecture, titled "From Skepticism to Significance". This was the first Pi Mu Epsilon lecture ever at Macalester on statistics. Prof Legler drew on her vast experience working at the National Institutes of Health to discuss exciting challenges arising from the use of statistics in ways and with problematic data for which it was not originally designed. Innovations in the discipline have ushered in a "Golden Age of Statistics."
