Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
We sent two teams to the MS-LA regional meeting of the MAA, participating in the integration bee and student competition (8th and 16th respectively out of 32). We didn't have any outside speakers visit us thisyear after we exhausted our budget last year to bring in Andrew Granville and others.
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :
One current graduate heading to grad school (Baylor), two heading to medical school. One graduate (6 years ago) has found a new separation axiom (rigorously describing the action of "tearing" in topolgy) with applications in axiomatic topology. One student completed an Honors project in Mathematics that did include a talk to a colloquium of Millsaps students.
