Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Providence, Rhode Island?

Yes!Jennifer Carmichael and Lindsey Webster will both be presenting.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

We had our first team participate in the COMAP Math Modeling Contest. Two of the three members on the team are Pi Mu Epsilon members. Our trips to the Oregon Academy of Sciences Meeting and the local MAA Pacific Northwest Chapter meetings were very successful. We had one student presentation at the first meeting by the Modeling team, and three student presentations at the Tacoma Meeting by Adam Brian Davis, Jennifer Carmichael, and Karley See.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Adam Brian Davis is taking part in a computer science REU at Texas A&M University this summer (2005).

Karley See and Amanda Martin both graduated as the outstanding seniors of their mathematics major class, and they both enrolled in MAT porograms. Karley will continue her education at WOU, and Mandy is going to Portland State University.

Amanda Martin is a member of the WOU Reduced Gravity Team and participated in a special flight in Houston, TX this summer. She has given numerous presentations about this project, including at the Oregon Junior Science Academy in May.
