Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Albuquerque, New Mexico?

Yes--we had one member--Dakota Blair.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

We had Professor Sutherland visit for the Lectureship Grant. He gave a talk and inducted our new members. He also spoke with new and old officers and faculty. He was very helpful and we had a great time!

We helped out the Math Department with Math Awareness Month. We hosted a Math T-shirt Contest and created the new t-shirts. We helped with the Math Mini-Fair (an outreach event). We helped with advertising and hosted a couple talks.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Our Vice President from last year received the Beckham Award (a very prestigious academic award at Texas A&M). He will be attending Texas A&M this year to pursue a one year Masters degree in Math.

Our Treasurer has moved up to become President of Pi Mu Epsilon (and Math Club--it's a joint deal).  He did an REU this past summer and presented at MathFest.

One member, Jennifer Dieringer, is starting her PhD at UT in Math this fall.

Another member, Ed Brophy, is persuing a Masters in Math Finance at A&M.

Another member, Krista Rister, is starting her PhD in Statistics at A&M this fall.
