Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Albuquerque, New Mexico?

Not yet.

Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Math in the Movies Night - We decided to have a social event and just have as much junk food as possible and watch "A Beautiful Mind" together.

Math in History - We had a speaker who came in and tied together the five-pointed star that is seen almost everywhere (including the Texas flag), the ratios of the star, the ratios of the body, and the golden mean. He even brought in artwork and history books.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

We were so proud to take four members to the Texas Section meeting of the Mathematical Association of America. The MAA Texas Section had its first annual Calculus Bowl and our four students -- Holly Stovall, Tanya Chase, Sarah Muehlenbein, and Caleb Grisham -- performed beautifully. They received THIRD place in the competition and received bronze medallions. Congratulations everyone!!
