Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:
The induction included a formal dinner, and it was the first of its kind in recent years. We initiated 34 new members, which was a substantial increase.
The chapter hosted a Software Workshop that introduced some students, for the first time, to the software suites MATLAB, Maple, and Scientific Workplace. A brief overview of each suite was provided and was accompanied by hands-on activities.
The chapter supported the Spelman College Math Club's project of building a domino portrait of renowned Spelman math professor, Dr. Etta Falconer (deceased).
Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Knoxville, Tennessee?
Yes
Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :
