Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Our annual dinner and induction ceremony, at which eight new members were inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, was held at 6 p.m. on April 24, 2006 at the Dobbs Ferry Campus of Mercy College. Many of our new inductees attended with their spouses, children, and/or parents, making it a very special evening for all of us.

Two mathematics students, who are members of Pi Mu Epsilon, gave presentations at a spring meeting. Greta Laffey spoke about Copernicus, Brahe, and Kepler; her choice of topic had a connection with Professor Edward Drake Roe, the founder of Pi Mu Epsilon, who had a special interest in astronomy. Also Daniel Robinson, a middle school mathematics teacher, spoke about his experiences using technology in his classroom and showed a video that he and his students had made about it.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Knoxville, Tennessee?

No.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :
