Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1) Our chapter worked with the Aquinas College Math Club to create a "carnival game booth" for this years homecoming. The booth used different probability and polar coordinate ideas. We ended up winning the best booth prize.

2)We celebrated pi day this year. We had a small get together where we had pi-rizes, which included pi cologne, pi (the movie), The History of Pi (book), Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi (childrens book) and various other pi related prizes. We even had a pi-nata.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in San Jose, California?

Bruce Salter will be giving a presentation at the PME national meeting. He will be giving a talk on cycloid like curves that are generated on various function curves.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Bruce Salter was awarded the Outstanding Mathematics Senior Award from the Aquinas Mathematics Department. Pual Osbourne was awarded the Honorable Mention Award from the Aquinas Mathematics Department. Bruce Salter, Carolyn Lovelace and Gina Zambo applied for the Miriam Schaefer Scholarship. Many of our members also participated in the Autumn Take Home Mathematics Competition and the Lower Michigan Mathematics Competition. Some of our members volunteered at Family Math Night (an evening where elementary school students bring their families to learn about math).
