Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1) The Minnesota Delta Chapter had another successful year. The major event was our 29th annual Pi Mu Epsilon Conference. The featured speaker was Carlos Castillo-Chavez from Arizona State University, who spoke engagingly about epidemics and national security.

2) In addition we had student speakers from 5 institutions besides our own two student speakers. Our two student speakers, Natalie Bly and Matt Voigt, completed honors theses this year. We inducted them into Pi Mu Epsilon at the annual pizza and volleyball party at which we also welcome our new sophomore majors (a formidable group on the volleyball court AND in the classroom!) Last November these students plus one other also gave talks at the St. Norbert䴜s PME conference. Other events this year included the seventh donut coloring contest, which provided much amusement, as well as donuts, for the many students who entered the contest, and a special session on constructing interesting polyhedral models with our own Fr. Magnus Wenninger

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in San Jose, California?

Yes.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

No.
