Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1) Pi Mu Epsilon student members provide tutoring throughout the year in the departmental student lounge. 2)During the initiation banquet annual awards were presented to departmental scholars in various categories (e.g., high score on the Putnam, research award). A special award was given to Prof. Gerald Alexanderson, a charter chapter Pi Mu Epsilon member and former department chair, for completing 50 years on the faculty at Santa Clara University. Special awards were also presented to three students, one who did a mathematics presentation at a local primary school, and two who presented a poster or paper at conferences.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, Wisconsin?

Some of the faculty Pi Mu Epsilon members may attend MathFest.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates? For example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences. :

Four graduating students have been accepted to graduate school. Currently recent alumni are studying at UCLA, Texas-Austin, Oregon, Vanderbilt, U Illinois, Colorado. One graduating student gave a student poster presentation at the Sectional MAA meeting in March, and another gave a paper at the Northern California Undergraduate Mathematics Conference in April.
