Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

Our most notable activities of the year were held in conjunction with our university's annual daylong campuswide Academic Showcase. All new PME inductees gave talks as part of the Showcase. Our induction ceremony was also part of the Showcase. The speaker was outgoing chapter advisor, Maria Fung, who spoke on "Hamilton's Quaternions: A Brief Introduction."

Did any of your chapter members present papers at the 2008 PME national meeting at MathFest in Madison, WI?

Kristal Temple attended and spoke on "What I did with my summer," a report on her time at The Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women .

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

Courtney Stowell '08, is earning a Master of Arts in Teaching in preparation for becoming a secondary mathematics teacher. Jen Carmichael '06 and Keith Schloeman '07 co-authored a paper with chapter advisor Michael Ward titled "Cayley-Sudoku Tables," which has been submitted for publication. Jen and Keith spoke on various parts of the paper at Math Fest and at Pacific Northwest Regional MAA meetings during the past two years.
