Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1) We organized Putnam study sessions: We met 3 or 4 times in the evening for an hour or so each time. We ate pizza, drank soda, and went over old Putnam problems. 2) We had out annual high school math contest, which was a success. We invited area high schools to compete. Throughout the day, four individual tests took place (each student takes one of the four based on class) as well as two team tests (one for freshmen and sophomores, and the second for juniors and seniors). Medals were given to the top scorers in each test. We thank the national Pi Mu Epsilon office for their support with these prizes. The contestants were also given lunch, and they got to see a talk by one of the faculty.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2009 PME national meeting at MathFest in Portland, Oregon?

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?
