Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

In October, PME arranged speaker GVSU prof Jon Hodge to discuss a summary of voting strategies. We drew history, poli sci, math and science students as well as profs and Jon delivered the mathematical goods. In April, PME honored emeritus professor Sister Mary Catherine Brechting OP. PME members and Aquinas alums spoke and created an actuarial fund named after her. Students, profs and two Deans attended.

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

Jillian Russo presents her research October 17th at the Michigan Undergraduate Math Conference. Ember Clark and Jillian both received undergraduate research scholarships summer 2009. Maxine Guzman is a fulltime math professor at High Point University (North Carolina).
