Describe the two most interesting or unusual chapter activities this year:

1. Members of the New Jersey Nu chapter of PME along with other students participated in the 2009 Putnam Mathematics competition. This year's students' performance was the best one so far in the four year history of Putnam competition being offered at the Ramapo College location. Moreover, two faculty members offered problem solving training sessions for the competition during the fall semester. 2. The New Jersey Nu chapter of PME sponsored a trip offered to PME members and other Ramapo College students to the Garden State Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (GSUMC), where some of the main attractions were student participation in the New Jersey Undergraduate Mathematics Competition, attending invited addresses, attending student talks and poster sessions. One of the Ramapo College teams won the 8th place out of 34 teams in the team competition and one of the Ramapo College students won 12th place out of 92 students in the individual competition.

Do any of your chapter members plan to attend or present a paper at the 2009 PME national meeting at MathFest in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?

Do you have any news about current students or recent graduates, for example, scholarships or other awards, acceptances to graduate school, paper presentations at conferences?

Mihail has been the president of the Ramapo College Math Club for the last 2.5 years. He presented his undergraduate stduent research in finance at multiple conferences, held at local, national, and international levels.
